Munterconnaught Community Development Association clg (MCDA) is a company limited by guarantee with the stated goal to establish a community centre for the promotion of sporting and social activities for the area of Munterconnaught. For over 160 years Ballydurrow Community Centre has provided the area with educational and social facilities, currently houses Superkids pre-school, which is giving early learning opportunities to 33 children. The centre has been, and currently is being used as a meeting location, accommodated talks and presentations, held plays and musical concerts, and the hope is to continue to utilise the centre for the greater good of all the community
With lots of space in the main hall which also boasts a stage, this makes it the centre ideal for music, dance, drama and youth groups. With seating for 120 it provides huge scope for many varied uses.
The centre also contains a sensory room, baby changing area and kitchen facilities which would be suitable for mother and toddler groups. A wheelchair accessible toilet is also available within the centre.
Future proofing the community centre
In order to maximise the asset that the community centre gives to the community MCDA are always looking to improve and add to the facilities available which will in turn be of maximum benefit to an increasing number of people and groups who may wish to use the centre..

In the last 12 months several upgrade projects have been completed at the community centre and many more in progress or planned. These are facilitated by grants applied for from the many government agencies responsible for community funding. Heating, lighting, kitchen facilities, window & door upgrades along with security projects have been finished and these have greatly added to the comfort and modernisation of the building

Work to make the stage area more useful to drama and musical groups have been implemented with the addition of a folding partition. Plans for additional lighting are being investigated.

As the facilities improve and more people start to use the building it is hoped that the Community centre will develop and grow into an integral part of Munterconnaught parish life. So far yoga, pilates, dance classes and cards nights have commenced. Cultural, historical and topical talks will hopefully be arranged in the coming months
